NEW: Veterans Job Bank
The Veterans Job Bank provides a central source for Veterans to locate job opportunities without having to visit multiple sites. The Veterans Job Bank is unique in that it provides users with the ability to define their search criteria by keyword, Military Occupational Code (MOC) and location. Based on information provided, the National Resource Directory (NRD) jobs search engine sends a query to a Google custom search, which in turn pulls a selection of global job opportunities that have been posted or specifically tagged for Veterans on job boards such as Simply Hired and corporate websites.
In support of this initiative, the NRD also developed a Veterans Job Bank Widget, which allows access to the Veterans Job Bank directly from other websites. An easy to implement feature that any individual or organization can use, the Veterans Job Bank Widget allows Veterans to quickly and easily conduct a targeted job search without ever leaving the website they are visiting.
Please feel free to share this information with friends, family and colleagues. As always, we appreciate your continued support of the National Resource Directory!

To Silence Ringing in the Ears
Military veterans are suffering a dramatic increase in tinnitus and other hearing damage and deserve much more research funding to find a cure. Between 2000 and 2005, the number of veterans with tinnitus disabilities more than doubled, Fagerlie said. The amount paid to veterans with tinnitus disabilities went up more than 2-1/2 times. The actual number of veterans with tinnitus may be much higher, he said, since some may not have filed for disability. Visit the American Tinnitus Association to find out more.
Military
Personnel Records Available Online
You may now request copies of military personnel records, including
proof of service (DD Form 214), through the National Personnel Records
Center's "VetRecs" system on the Internet via www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records.
Military veterans or the next of kin of deceased, former military
members are eligible to use this system. Next of kin include a surviving
spouse who has not remarried, father, mother, son, daughter, sister
or brother. All others must complete Form 180, which is available
for download here.
Designed to improve service requests by eliminating mail-processing
time, this Web-based system is user-friendly with prompts for easy
navigation of the four-step system. Once the customized request
is complete, users are required to print, sign and date the signature
verification portion of their form and mail or fax it to the records
center. Failure to submit a signature verification form within 20
days of entering a request will result in the removal of that request
from the system.
